VICIdial Download & Login: The Official Paths

The official VICIdial download lives at download.vicidial.com — a plain directory listing containing the vicidial/ source code, the ViciBox install ISOs (under the iso/ tree), required apps, patches, and sounds. That one URL answers both halves of this page’s question: it’s where the software comes from, and the install it produces is where your login pages appear. Everything else ranking for “VICIdial download” — mirrors, bundlers, third-party “free download” portals — is somewhere between stale and risky.

The VICIdial download, done right

Get it from download.vicidial.com only. The ViciBox install images most deployments should use live under the iso/ tree (currently iso/vicibox/server/), with vicidial/ holding raw source for manual installs, plus patches and sound files. Pair it with the current docs at docs.vicibox.com.
Yes, it’s genuinely free. VICIdial is open source under the AGPL — the download costs nothing and every feature is included. What costs money is running it: servers, expertise, carrier, compliance.

Two judgment calls follow the download:

ViciBox ISO vs source: unless you have a specific reason to hand-build the stack, take the ISO path — our ViciBox install guide walks it from boot to first call, including the version trap on the project’s older web pages.
Skip third-party mirrors. A dialer is a security-sensitive system that will hold leads and make calls under your caller ID. Installing it from anywhere but the official host is an unforced error.

Once ViciBox finishes, browse to your server’s IP address — the VICIdial welcome page is the front door. Per the official ViciBox docs, you click Administration and log in to reach the admin interface (campaigns, lists, users, carriers); the Agent interface (the screen agents live in all day) is linked from the same page. Bookmark both; agents only ever need theirs.

Two login realities worth stating plainly:

The VICIdial admin login and the VICIdial agent login are different creatures. Administrators are created in the admin interface with permission levels; agents get user IDs and phone logins tied to campaigns. If “VICIdial login” isn’t working for someone, the first question is which interface they’re standing in front of.
The install ships with documented defaults that must die immediately. Per the official ViciBox docs, the web administration login defaults to user 6666 with password 1234 (the docs suggest granting 6666 full admin permissions during setup), and the OS installer offers to keep ViciBox’s default root password, vicidial. A dialer with stock credentials on a public IP gets found by scanners fast — change every default before the server touches production traffic, then lock the web interfaces down by source IP if you can.

An installed, logged-in VICIdial is a silent one until it has a carrier. Why can’t I find a separate VICIdial agent download?

Because there isn’t one — VICIdial agents work in a web browser. The agent interface is served by your VICIdial server itself, so “downloading VICIdial for agents” just means giving each agent the URL of your server’s agent screen plus their user and phone credentials. Nothing installs on agent machines beyond a browser and a softphone or webphone, which is also what makes remote agents trivial to add.
